Sacred Heart Catholic School offers various opportunities for students to take part in extracurricular activities. Many middle school students are taking part in the Newspaper Club and disco. New for this school year, the Sacred Heart Garden Club was created for all students.
Sacred Heart Garden Club
Students of all grades helped establish the first ever vegetable garden at Sacred Heart Catholic School. The garden was created and planted before the end of the 2016-2017 school year. Students learned to harvest vegetables and to care for the garden. The garden has been put to bed for winter. The garden will be prepared and planted again in the spring.
Sacred Heart Catholic School started up a Newspaper Club during the 2015-2016 school year with the guidance of 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Allison Beckwith The Newspaper Club publishes quarterly newsletters for the students, staff, and parishioners of Sacred Heart.
Editions of the JCOS Tribune are available. Read up on school news from the students from the 2017-2018 school year.
Disco is an afternoon homework club for students in 6th – 8th grade. ‘Disco’ is Latin for ‘I learn.’ This is an opportunity for students to complete homework, projects, and other work in a quiet study environment and will also provide an opportunity for teachers to provide assistance to students who need additional help after school.
Disco is held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays when school is in session until 4:30 pm. There will be no disco on early dismissal days. Attendance is optional for most students and students are expected to communicate directly with parents regarding rides. Parents are required to read, sign, and return an information sheet to the school office prior to their child being able to take part in disco.
